Is this little brief about Upwork enough to tell you about their legitimacy?

Is Upwork Legit?

Yes, over my 5 freelancing years on Upwork, I’ve never experienced a single scam, except an experience that looks like a scam but totally my fault.

After getting my first two paid jobs on Upwork, I was totally confident of my freelancing skills. Trusting clients on upwork was very easy at this point.

Now, I applied for another writing job, in which I got my proposal accepted within an hour of applying. That was fast.

I rechecked the job post, and the client looked sort of new to stationing on upwork. He was even yet to pay upwork for the job.

Nevertheless, I started working with him and one of the first courses for him to work with him long term is to work outside of upwork.

I succumbed to that and we starting discussing the course of the project on telegram. Within two weeks I had submitted the three articles.

Guess what? I didn’t receive a dime.

Do you now understand where the scam tag for upwork comes from?

There are clients with illegitimate intentions on upwork. Falling into their shambles is the scam on upwork.

All the same, here are a few complaints flagged by some upwork users:

  • Your account can be suspended anytime, without any due explanation and their probably nothing you can do about it.
  • That 20% service fee from upwork is unbearable for most users.
  • It takes a lot of years to reach the big milestone of upwork and it’s very frustrating. A lot of client’s keep slaying the bottom payment rule and want quality output.
  • Nevertheless, it does not work for everyone. Well, if it doesn’t work for some and work for others, the platform has to have two faces.
