The 6 health tips for working from home

1.        Good Sitting Posture

This is one of the top 6 health tips for working from home. Once your job is related to sitting down, you are likely to keep a poor sitting posture. Reason being that it is more relaxing to sit with poor posture, rather than the right one.

Slumping down on the chair is. poor posture. Leaning close to your computer while working. All these activities cause straining of muscles, rapid fatigue and back pain.

If you want to practise good sitting posture, you can follow the United States of Labor Guide. It states that you need to keep your spine in a straight position to the rest of the chair. This will keep your head, neck and torso parallel to your computer.

2.    Use a Standing Desk

This cannot be overemphasized, standing desk is one of the top health tips for working from home. Don’t tell me you are yet to come across automatic standing desks? These desks can be adjusted to sitting positions as well as standing positions. So, if you are tired of sitting, you can literally stand up and keep working.

Come to think of it, your body  shouldn’t be composed of sitting for 5 hours straight. We find staying at home so comfortable, to the extent that we can sit in one place for hours.

Sitting for long hours might cause back pain at first, and if continued over a long period might stretch the back muscles.

3.  Move Around Regularly

Guess what? I just had to walk around my whole house in order to concede this particular point. And I think it is one of the best therapy you can get if you are working from home.

Lack of movement for a lengthy time would result in reduced functioning of the body muscles. This in turn causes fatigue and the poor ability to take up activities without sitting down.

How about trying out a 5 – 10 minutes walk after every 2 hours of work. Yes, you can also take up house chores or any other activities that will involve locomotion

4.  Exercise Regularly

Speaking of locomotion, direct exercising is the most important part. Join gym programmes and go to the gym often. Might not be an everyday thing though.

If you don’t want to take chances at the gym, you can just buy a simple stretcher, fitness bar etc, and then follow YouTube fitness programs. At least, you’d be able to do something for yourself at home during your leisure period.

How about Yoga? I’m not particularly into this, however, I have lots of friends that don’t joke with their yoga schedules and they are always really good.

5.   How Healthy are What Your Snacks

You should eat good food as a freelancer. I mean, come to think of it, there isn’t any reason why you shouldn’t be eating good food at all times.

Now, let’s major on what we snack on when working…

Don’t go for just any snack out there. Try to look out for what they are made of and the nutritional benefits. Remember, you will be taking those snacks often, and they can have a side effect if taken too much.

6.    Lower Your Computer Brightness

Another thing you shouldn’t forget is the light coming out of your computer. Too much light directed to the eye, might result in damage to eye cells.

Just like me, I want to believe some people suffer from headaches and watery eyes when exposed to my light.

Conclusion

Sitting at a computer all day, without friends, though making money, is always so enjoyable. We get tired of that lifestyle but hey! How do you pay those bills again? It is a good idea to give yourself a little break once in a while. That will not only refill your energy but manage your health.
